Rotax Grand Finals – Thursday – Heat # 1 & 2

27 November 2014

Qualifying heats 1 & 2 where presented today in each class. The results of each heat give points according the drivers’ place finish. After the 3rd heat tomorrow, the standings will determine who will access directly to the final phase on Saturday, who will have to race in the Second Chance race to have a chance to join the final phase and who will just pack their equipment.

Team Canada DD2 drivers are definitely our strongest group. In the first heat, we placed three drivers in the top 8 and we placed two in the top 4 of the 2nd heat.

Individually, the best results today are from Zachary Claman-DeMelo, who scored a pair of 2nd place, and Ben Cooper with a 2nd and 3rd place. Very good day also for Fred Woodley with a 5th and 4th position. Heat races can be cruel as a simple mistake or mechanical failure can put you in serious trouble.

Top 28 of the standings tomorrow will go directly to the final phase, drivers ranked 29 – 62th will take part of the Second chance race where the top 6 will move in the pre-final. Others are eliminated. Here a table of our drivers with their points after two heats (less point is better). Drivers should normally have approximately 45 points or less to qualify directly to the finals.
