7 March 2016

rmcgf-sarno2BRP-Rotax announces changes for the next Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals. Event format and Micro-MAX and Mini-MAX classes with international participation are the main elements of the new face of the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals.

The 17th edition of the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals will take place from October 16th to 22nd in Sarno, Italy. The 2016 CIK regulation brings major changes for the next RMCGF. Amongst them, the Second Chance Race will be replaced by a new format with two pre-finals and one final.

A national event for the Micro MAX and Mini MAX classes will be presented in support of the 2016 Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals. This event will invite foreign drivers to participate at this event.

For many years, the RMCGF presented a national event with Micro MAX and/or Mini MAX drivers from the hosting country. The new CIK regulation also allows National Event to invite foreign drivers and this make possible to invite 72 young drivers from all around the World to participate at the Olympics of karting. Team Canada received one seat in both classes. The way these seats will be awarded will be announced soon. The age criteria set by Rotax for each class are:

125 Micro MAX: 8th birthday before October 16, 2016 and may not have his/her 11th birthday before December 31, 2016

125 Mini MAX: 10th birthday before October 16, 2016 and may not have his/her 13th birthday before December 31, 2016

To include these two classes to the schedule, the registration of the event will take place in one day only and the raffle for the karts will take place on Sunday.

This means that a total of 360 drivers will participate at the Grand Finals next October in Italy.
